Frequently Asked Questions

What sensors and monitoring capabilities are integrated into the MiniBRx system?

Each MiniBRx unit includes single-use optical sensors for pH, DO, temperature, and optional sensors for glucose, lactate, pCO₂, and biomass. The system also offers advanced SCADA-based process control and complies with 21 CFR Part 11 & CSV for data integrity and regulatory compliance.

Can MiniBRx support both fed-batch and perfusion processes?

Yes. The MiniBRx platforms are available in configurations that support either fed-batch or both fed-batch and integrated perfusion modes, including HF-TFF modules for continuous media exchange, making it suitable for a wide variety of upstream process development applications. It is to be noted that the MiniBRx Quad docking station with perfusion capability can support fed-batch bioprocessing, but the fed-batch docking station can not support perfusion-based bioprocessing. However, the fed-batch docking station can easily be upgraded to perfusion platform by OmniBRx team.

How many bioreactors can be operated simultaneously using MiniBRx?

The MiniBRx system supports up to 8 independently controlled mini-bioreactors using 2 units of MiniBRx Quad docking stations (eighter Fed-batch or perfusion), allowing researchers to conduct multiple parallel experiments under identical or varying conditions, significantly reducing development timelines and cost per experiment.

Can MiniBRx Be Connected to Automated Sampling Devices for Online Cell Count & Metabolite Analysis?

Yes, the MiniBRx platform can be integrated with automated sampling devices for real-time monitoring of cell density, viability, and metabolite concentrations such as glucose, lactate, pCO₂ and many more. The system features modular sensor ports, peristaltic pumps, and SCADA-based control, allowing seamless connectivity with third-party automated samplers, online analyzers, and PAT tools. This integration enables continuous data acquisition, reduces manual sampling errors, and supports real-time decision-making during process development. Whether for clone screening, perfusion optimization, or scale-down modeling, automated analytics enhance the precision and throughput of experiments conducted on the MiniBRx platform.

What services and support OmniBRx can provide along with the MiniBRx system?

OmniBRx offers full process consultation, operator training, commissioning support, and contract development services to ensure optimal setup and use of the MiniBRx system for your specific application. Optionally, OmniBRx team can support for DQ, FAT, IQ, OQ, and PQ, along with GMP documentation and CSV compliance. It is designed to meet the standards required for regulated environments. The MiniBRx system supports OPC-UA connectivity, optional secure network integration, and a SCADA software that aligns with company networks and regulatory data handling requirements.
